I am Woman, Hear Me Roar

I'm not pleased to admit this, but Consort and I watched the season of "The Real Housewives of New York." I dislike these women heartily and plunge into an existential crisis every time I finish watching an episode. And yet I never miss a week of bad behavior and liberal lashings of Pinot Grigio.

Last night we were watching the final feces-throwing contest- I mean, episode, and I wondered aloud how much money it would take to get me to be the OED definition of narcissist in public. Consort squinted at me.

"If we're talking about these women, you're asking the wrong question. The question isn't how much money did the Real Housewives get, but how little would it have taken?"

Hands off, girls. He's mine.

I don't understand why they all get recording contracts ("Money can't buy you class" - really Countess?).

I just want to shake them all and say "marrying rich does NOT equal instant talent. Please stop."

Never watched any of the real wives shows. I have too much TV to watch and not enough time to waste on them. As it is my DVR is always at 90% full. This is because I have a child who insists on watch what HE wants while he is awake. So we get like an hour to catch up on the DVR before I am unconscious for the evening. And why does the little ad for your book over there to the right tell me the best price for it is one cent? I mean, that might be the best price for ME, but certainly not for you.

This is a link to a blog that a Psych major compiled about the Real Housewives describing their psychoses not for mind rot of course, just to answer some important questions.

Art Linkletter once asked his audience who would kiss a pig for $50. Almost everyone volunteered. He began inching the price down, until he had only one offer. The pig got kissed for 50 cents. Somehow your post reminded me of that story.

I have the feeling that there are people out there who would pay the studios to air their narcissism and other flaws. I'm only grateful that the studios haven't yet taken that route.
